Adarash Lok Kalyan Sansthan (ALKS) is inspired by the philosophy of the Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi, Saint Vinoba Bhave and Lok Nayak Jayprakash Naryan. Based on Gandhian thought, Sangthan (Organization), Shikshan (Education), Rachana (Development) & Satyagrah (Non violent struggle) are basic ethos of the organization for laying the foundation of the new ideal society where dignity and welfare of every human being is of utmost value and coexistence with nature is the guiding principle of social life. The benevolent world where people live with peace, harmony and solidarity with each other is the ultimate aim of the organization.

Mr. Manohar Manav is the founder of the organization. With an intense aspiration to promote the Gandhian values in social life and serve the downtrodden people of the society he laid the foundation of the organization on 26th January 2007. The name of the organization Adarash Lok Kalyan Sansthan (ALKS) epitomizes the vision of an ideal egalitarian society which is free from all types of human exploitation and based on brother-hood, cooperation, peace, trust and non-violence. The organization was registered under Registration Act- 1860 (XXI) on - 6 july-2009. The organization started its work by making people aware about the Gandhian thought of ideal society and social life. It is particularly focused on channelizing youth energy to make an ideal society. The Organization formed a cadre of social volunteers who believe in Gandhian values and is dedicated to the upliftment of down-trodden people of the society. It also promoted formation of people based organizations (Social organization) for youth, women, labors, Bhoodan farmers and others to address their specific needs. With the support of dedicated volunteers and social organizations it started a massive Programme of awareness generation for educating people about the Gandhian thought and its necessity in the time of conflict and disharmony. The Organization also started making people aware about the dehumanizing effect of modern development process which is in conflict with human value and nature/environment. It has been mobilizing support of veteran Gandhians working across the world for inculcating Gandhian ideal of social life among people. The Organization been working for socio-economical, educational, cultural and spiritual development of the most neglected, oppressed, downtrodden and disadvantaged sections of the society. ALKS is a non-political, non-religious and non-sectarian organization. It is governed democratically by its governing board.
