Way Forward

The organization has set 11 points Agenda as priority thematic area of work as follows

Continuing its 11 points agenda the organization looks for following programmes in coming future. In the context of COVID 19 some important areas for intervention has emerged. These areas need immediate attention.

  • Skill development programme for youth
  • Promotion of progressive, organic and integrated farming
  • WASH programmes in the context of COVID 19
  • Community health programme for prevention of epidemic
  • Education for poor children
  • Protection of children rights
  • Social security for informal labors
  • Renovation of water bodies ( ponds/tanks/Dugwells)

Skill Development Programme for Youth

In the backdrop of growing unemployment in rural area which are the causes of migration of labors the ALKS proposes to start employment oriented skill development training programmes for migrant labors. COVID 19 has provided an opportunity for the mapping of training needs for migrant and potentially migrant labor. It is planning to set up training centers for masons, plumbers, carpenters, vehicle drivers and others. For women it has planned training center for sewing, embroidery, homesbased snacks and others.

Promotion of Progressive and Organic and Integrated Farming

To mitigate the impact of climate change on agriculture the organization has planned to make mass awareness campaign for the promotion of organic farming. It will also conduct training programmes on organic farming. It has also planned to promote integrated farming –farming with fisheries, animal husbandry and poultry.

WASH

In the context of COVID 19 the community needs massive WASH awareness programmes for the poor community. They need training on hand wash, personal hygiene, community hygiene. They need sanitation facilities at household and community level. With its past experience ALKS has planned to work with Panchayats to make swacchata Abhiyan successful in Saran district of Bihar.

Community Health and Epidemic

COVID 19 has given us the lesson on the importance of community health and epidemic. It has been neglected from the years. Now the community needs to be aware on the different aspects of community health, epidemic and its social determinants like hygiene, immunity, nutrition, living condition, community level health facilities, health awareness, health behaviors and others. The community needs to be made aware and trained on health disaster management. Which has very serous social and economical impact? ALKS has planned for the awareness programme.

Child Education and Protection of Child Rights

Millions of children live in poverty in India and Bihar. COVID 19 has further deepened this poverty trap for children. It has increased threat on the Children rights for survival, development and protection. Chances of increase in child labor, child trafficking and drop rates from school have increased. Situation is ripe enough to increase the discrimination against girl child. The organization plans intensive campaign to protect child rights.

Social Security for Informal Labors

Social security for informal labors is old issue. In COVID 19 the issue has become more relevant and urgent. ALKS will run nationwide movement for ensuring social security to informal labors. It also plans to make labors aware and trained on different aspects of micro financing.

Renovation of Water Bodies

ALKS has been running campaign for community based water management in Bihar. Renovation of traditional water bodies is the one top agenda for the organization. It has targeted to make 100 villages water sufficient in three years.

Above are prime agenda for the organisation. However its other programmes under 11 point agenda will continue with its ultimate aim to see an exploitation free society with peace harmony and prosperity.
